Cape
Coast is the capital city of the Central Region. This is the home
of the Fanti people. Castles and forts dot the landscape, some of
which are still in use today. Cape Coast has many miles of beautiful
beaches, and the largest virgin rain forest in the country. It has
rare primates and the famous "Canopy Walk" at miles and
miles of beautiful beaches the top of the trees, making it one of
Ghana's major tourist destinations It is the region's major center
for commerce, education, and cultural activities. Cape Coast has
one university and about a dozen secondary schools. Secondary schools
are the equivalent of prep schools in America

St.
Augustine's College
St Augustine's
College is one of the nations prestigious academic institutions
located on the outskirts of Cape Coast, next to the university.
Perched on a hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, it is literally100
meters from the ocean. The school was founded in 1930 initially
to train teachers. It is now a senior secondary school. There are
about 1500 boys, aged between 12 and 19 years. It has 60 full-time
and 6 part-time teachers along with about 80 non-teaching staff.
The headmaster and his two assistants have direct oversight of the
school's administration. Augusco, as it is popularly known, is very
active in regional and national sports championships and competitions
in the following areas : Football, Track and Field, Hockey, Table
Tennis, and Basketball. St. Augustine's produces soccer players
for Ghana's youth national team, U-17 world cup team, and Olympic
football teams. Two players from St. Augustines are currently on
the senior national team. This wonderful institution with it's ideal
location will serve as host to the program. Participants will stay
in the college's residence halls and use their athletic and dining
facilities.
